With years of retails experience under their belts and an infectious love of shopping, owners Danika Wade and Katie McNeight are thrilled to have opened their very first boutique, Scout3, on Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.

Katie and Danika met after independently moving to Southern California. Danika, originally from Pennsylvania, had completed school at James Madison University in Virginia and then came to California to study textile and interior design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Danika loves clean lines, that still appear comfortable and contemporary pieces that have a bit of an edge.

Katie originally from Atlanta, Georgia had just completed school at University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Business Management and moved to Southern California to pursue a career in fashion. Everything she throws on looks effortlessly stylish in a feminine and daring way.

The pair; known as “the girls”, struck up a friendship when they began working at the same boutique in Los Angeles.  Both had a great love of fashion and had separately dreamed of opening their own clothing boutique one day.   So when they met it seemed natural for them to become friends and pursue their business dreams together.  Three years in the works…their doors finally opened and they are so happy to have found a beautiful location in Laguna Beach.

Scout3 is truly the heart and soul of these young entrepreneurs who worked away to get their doors open, pulling together last minute design details with their families day and night before the electricity was even turned on.  They feel so much gratitude for the hard work of their friends and family who really went out of their way to help out in anyway they could.

Amid the madness of shop planning Katie and Danika, along with their manager Lisa, whisked away to England to share in Danika’s wedding festivities this past summer.  Danika’s husband Steve, a very busy teacher and excellent jazz musician, also spent many hours over the summer studying carpentry to build many pieces for the store.  They had a vision of how they wanted everything to look and how the space would feel.  They spent many, many hours crafting the whole concept.

Hidden inside the walls of the historic Old Pottery Place, Scout3 is narrow, sleek, and often described by shoppers New York meets Southern California.  With many hard to find designer pieces for Men and Women, Scout3 is Laguna’s newest hip boutique. Great candles and fragrances by Calypso, all natural Korres body products from Greece, unique gift items and ridiculously comfortable lounge and yoga wear, line the walls.  With flowy silk tops and gorgeous dresses by Mint, stylish denim by Kasil, Red Engine, and Earnest Sewn this shop is classic with an edge; definitely the place to get that must have special occasion outfit or spruce up your home with impossible to find Italian Match Pewter.  Scout3 is a unique mix of fashion forward clothing and accessories for style conscious men and women, as well as sophisticated pieces to stylishly decorate your home.

Where did they come up with the name you might ask?  Well, once business plans were on their way, the two realized that they wanted a name that represented their products but also something that reflected their contribution as well.  Since, scouting out new brands is one of their favorite past time as shoppers the name seemed to be a perfect fit.  And the number three?  It represents the items carried in the sleek new shop: Men, Women and Home.

Once you set foot in Scout3 you quickly realize this is only the beginning for these stylish young women.  They are delighted to have found such a beautiful location and look forward to sharing their fashion zealous with locals and visitors alike.
